/templates/default/cms/admin_cms.tpl has a small mistake in line 54:
? '' : serialize($other)))) )) ?>'

It is necessary to add 2 brackets (6 brackets are necessary ) :-)

you may want to detect if short_open_tag is set to 'On' because it is by
default in php.ini.recommended.

With this setting the enduser gets a parse error in line 1 of the default
template - not easy to determine the source of the problem :-)
